My Look?

posted on: 8.12.2014

Dress: Forever 21, Sunglasses: Forever 21, Shoes: Vans

I have been contemplating my general aesthetic a lot lately... What kind of art I like versus what kind of art I make; my interior design tastes and how they fluctuate between eclectic and shabby chic; also, my dress. This category I am particularly a loss. It bothers me that some days I feel bohemian, and others I want to rock the minimal look. I don't want to be a fashion chameleon, I want to be me, ya dig? So I am currently in the mental process of determining my constants to get a better grasp on what I might call my style. This look includes three of those continuous staples I never tire of: 1. silver jewelry 2. sneakers 3. stripes.

What are your constants? Do you feel like you have found your true style? If so, please share your secret!

  2. Oh how I wish I had found my style! My look is kinda hippie and a little but granola ish, it's fine it worked in college, but it's high time I stepped up my game!! Love your dress!

  3. I'm with you! I think I found my style I suppose, but it changes with my mood as well. Some days I'm more classic and other days I am modern. I want to be more boho or edgy, but I just don't pull it off as well as I might like - or others do for that matter. I think it's ok to explore and be uncertain so long as you love what you're in! I love this look on you, as always!

  4. I'm not sure, I'm kind of giving in to jumping all over the style spectrum day to day. I like that I go from ladylike mum to rocker rebellion but sometimes I do also wonder if I come across with a unique style and I think the style element comes from the way I wear those looks and the attitude I put forward with them as oppose to the category the clothes fit in to. If you catch my drift! Regardless I think this look is definitely a Michaela look just as much as the all black look from the other day. You look great!

  5. Love this look, it's so classic and chic! I feel like my style changes day to day with my mood too but then when I take a closer look at my closet everything kind of fits together. I still don't think my style is as defined as I'd like it to be, one day I'm super downtown in all black and then next in a girly as can be bright red skirt. I just try to buy pieces that I really, really love and not so much the trendy things I don't need or will only wear once.

  9. I've given up trying to peg myself into a certain category---what I've found is that I like certain items in a certain mood, so part of my style is the versatility and the freedom to experiment.

  10. I'm so with you girl! I have been feeling this way a lot lately, so I decided to cleanse my closet and start over fresh. But sometimes it is fun to have a few different styles just to match my (many) moods :)

  12. I'm very ADD when it comes to personal style so I'm afraid I'm not much help when it comes to identifying constants. I do, however, know what I like and don't like/will and won't wear and I think that's kind of the very basic building blocks of identifying a distinct personal style. Thinking aside, I like what you've done here with this look :-)

  13. I know what you mean. Some days, I'm feeling all J.Crew preppy and the next day, I just want to channel a laid back look in denim cut-offs and a slouchy tee. The same goes for my decor preferences...they fluctuate between rustic, modern and classic. I say just go with it! Keeps life interesting! And you look fantastic! Love those stripes!!

  14. I love this look! And I definitely don't think I have my true style figured out yet. But I think the changing and fluctuating is just normal!

  15. I love the sneakers, that pop of color really makes the outfit "yours" in my opinion!

I'm still experimenting with my style, mostly struggling to bridge the gap between my workplace style and my weekend style. It can be so easy to just wear black slacks and blouses to work every day, but I find that I am trying to put extra effort into looking stylish and more "me" at work.
