Halloween 2014

posted on: 11.06.2014

The time has finally come to do a Halloween week recap. Erik and I spent the majority of this week with our best buds, the newly weds, and our neighbors. You can send a congrats to this cute couple if you so please, they deserve it! I know Linds would also appreciate me explaining to you that the Crate and Barrel box exhibited in picture numero uno is solely registry remnants. I am sure many of you understand how that goes. Any who, I told you I would carve a pumpkin and there would be a legitimate smile involved, I did not lie. However, this carving was incredibly last minute, specifically the night before Halloween. With that said our tardiness did not slow us down, we went all out by cooking pumpkin bread made with the love of Trader Joe, we drank awful pumpkin beer, and then ate DELICIOUS pumpkin seeds. One word: Lawry's.

The following evening the neighbors sported the most adorable costume, Forrest Gump and Jenny. I wish I had a photo to share with you. Instead you get the Upps. Erik and I... well, we we're witches. Erik was a Forest Witch to be exact. Once we got a few hoppy beers in him, he confidently proclaimed, "I'm a Forest Witch" over and over again. To make the evening even better, and very few things can improve a night of Erik in makeup, it rained! All in all- success. I love this holiday, but I am happy I can finally speak the one liner I repeat nearly everyday November 1st thru December 24th, "Christmas is coming!"

What were you all for Halloween? Are you sad it's over or are you just ready to move on to the most wonderful time of the year? Don't worry, I agree with both.

  1. Don't worry we didn't carve our pumpkins until the night before too. Is it just me or is it a lot harder than you remember?! Haha. Love your costumes and Jenny/Forest is such a great idea!

  2. It looks lovely- you guys always seem so happy which is why I'm drawn here! Love the costumes too! Halloween went to quick and it was a midst the busiest week ever, and after it was over I was sad- I felt like I had let this big moment slip away from me and didn't get to enjoy it fully. Oh well, a good reminder to stay present!

  5. Omg! Can I come hang with you?? You are just a ball of FUN! Sounds like the perfect way to spend Halloween! I have mixed feeling about this time of the year. I love it for the kids but as a parent, it's a tad stressful. I'll need plenty of spiked eggnog to get me through!

  15. hahaha imagining him proclaiming "I'm a forest witch" is the most hilarious image EVER. I LOVE how you witch costume came out though- so chic but still giving off that spooky vibe. And your pumpkin carving evening sounds so fun- what with pumpkin beers being involved ;) Yum!
